Naturalist Training Registration

Registration is now open for the 2026 Amigos de Bolsa Chica Naturalist Training Class.

At the Bolsa Chica State Beach Visitor Center: 17851 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach, CA 92649

Cost: $100 which includes Amigos de Bolsa Chica membership, Naturalist Training Manual, personal photo binder and certification as an Amigos de Bolsa Chica Naturalist upon completion. Content: Training will consist of an in-person introduction session, “on-your-own” videos and quizzes, Zoom discussion sessions about videos and quizzes, and several in-person field trips in and around the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve with experienced leaders. The Training introduction and Zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays between January 15th and March 12th.

Course Expectations: Attend introduction, all zoom sessions, and all field trips; watch all videos; and complete all quizzes.

Post-Course Expectations: Volunteer a minimum of two hours each month to lead Amigos field trips/tours/outreach.

By volunteering to teach students, scouts and the general public about about the history, ecology, birds and all the other amazing facts of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, you will play an important part in the movement to protect our coastline.
